Expectantly waiting,
my first thought each day
was "Christmas is coming!"
Do I still feel that way?
Antique glass ornaments
reflected lights on the tree;
Is the Light of the World
most important to me?
I remember Mama saying,
"Place the tinsel, don't throw it!!"
Do I as carefully apply God's Word
and study hard to know it?
Children look for gifts and toys,
brightly wrapped, beneath the tree;
Now is giving or receiving
a way of life for me?
Tables filled with savory dishes,
special desserts for just this day;
Do I now feast on Bible truths
as I go along my way?
My memories of Christmas past
hold lessons for these days;
Lord, help me teach the children
of your truth and loving ways.
